At Les Armateurs de Rhum, we have always had a soft spot for stories of the sea, travel, and craftsmanship. So when Grain de Sail, pioneers in carbon-free intercontinental sailing, proposed a collaboration, the idea seemed obvious: to create together a rum shaped by the ocean.
A journey, an encounter, an exceptional rum
It all begins under the sun of the French West Indies.
There, we carefully select original rums, rich in their terroir and tropical maturity. But for this vintage, the adventure does not end in the barrel: it continues at sea.
Loaded aboard Grain de Sail's cargo sailing ship, our barrels embark on a transatlantic voyage covering several thousand nautical miles. For weeks, the swell, winds, and temperature variations become the architects of a moving aging process.
With each wave, the rum opens up, breathes, evolves. It literally takes on the taste of the open sea.
The return to Saint-Malo: the mark left by shipowners
Upon arrival, the barrels are transferred to our ocean-front cellar in Saint-Malo, where we give the Transatlantique cuvée its final signature.
Under the influence of Brittany's cool, salty climate, the rum becomes balanced. Its Caribbean roundness blends with the minerality of the coastline. On the nose, a gentle harmony of vanilla and spices; on the palate, notes of tropical fruit and a salty finish, a nod to the sea that cradled it.
A shared vision
Beyond spirits, Transatlantique embodies a shared philosophy: that of more respectful trade, a reinvented maritime heritage, and a deep-rooted taste for adventure.
Grain de Sail charts new carbon-free routes.
The Armateurs de Rhum perpetuate and modernize the Saint-Malo rum tradition.
Together, we celebrate movement, curiosity, and the desire to go further—always.
Transatlantique, a limited edition
Available in limited quantities, the Transatlantique cuvée is an invitation to travel.
A unique rum, born between two continents, shaped by the waves, and nurtured by the shared passion of two Breton houses.
Transatlantic — wind in your sails, salt on your lips, and memories in every sip.
